Boynes, on the edge of the
Beauce and the Gâtinais, owes its reputation to a local man, Louis Veuillot
(1813-1883), and especially to its international and timeless saffron. Since
1998, Boyne has a Saffron Museum that is definitely worth a visit. In a former
wine merchant's house, five rooms have been laid out presenting a brief,
anecdotal overview of the local city's history as well as a fine presentation of
the history of this area's agricultural evolution.
Saffron and winegrowing are the common themes for this journey through time,
culminating in a display of the challenges facing modern day farming.
A Museum not quite like all the others.
A Museum maximising the variety of its displays and the quality of its
communication that will interest to all audiences, without neglecting the
educational aspects of these fascinating subjects.
