In the Loiret it is a tradition to visit
the the market and buy locally produced fruit and vegetables.
From potatoes to beetroot, green beans to flageolet beans, from leeks
to courgettes, from carrots to cabbages and well as shallots and
garlic, not forgetting onions and all the various varieties of lettuce,
and naturally the renowned Val de Loire asparagus, the Loiret offers
you all the best produce from its vegetable garden.
A quick trip to the North of the region will enable you to discover
our cereal crops, making up such an important part of our daily diet.
In our orchards, located mainly in the river valley, you will find
that every season of the year is mild and temperate. Starting with the
Spring and early Summer, with cherries in abundance in the areas
around Olivet and Cléry St. André, then strawberries, raspberries, red
currents and blackberries, to arrive at Autumn with apples and pears
ripening through the Winter months, such as the Passe-Crassane, this
fleshy and juicy pear reflecting so well the generosity of our region.
Whether it is for flowers, fruit or
vegetables, the LOIRET really is the GARDEN OF PARIS
